Primary and Secondary Education in Nottingham
Despite a huge amount of investment Nottingham's state schools have consistently ranked low in national league tables. As a result lots of schools have been closed and new city academies have opened, but still Nottingham City LEA remains near the bottom of the league tables for both primary schools and secondary school levels. In 2006, at Primary level, Nottingham ranked fourth from bottom in the country - thata EUROS TMs 147th out of 150 local authorities. At secondary level Nottingham came eighth from bottom nationally in terms of GCSE results attained.
Nottingham does have a number of independent schools which includes Nottingham High School, which was founded in 1513, and is the city's oldest educational establishment. According to the Sunday Times Nottingham High School were 8th nationally for A-Levels in 2008.
Further Education
There are 3 colleges are in Nottingham. Castle College is the largest, New College Nottingham, and Bilborough College which is a Sixth Form college.
Higher Education
Nottingham has 2 universities, University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University.
University of Nottingham Medical School is the University of Nottinghama EUROS TMs teaching Hospital, it is part of the largest hospital in the UK, the Queen's Medical Centre (also known as the QMC).
